Present: Tatjana Ivanović, president of the Mountaineering Association of Montenegro, Zoran Chitkushev, president of the Mountaineering Association of North Macedonia and Dragoslav Gogić, president of BMU. Excusably absent: Martin Šolar from Slovenia and Ermin Lipović from Bosnia and Herzegovina. The guest at the session was the president of the Mountaineering Association of Serbia, Iso Planić.
The meeting of the Executive Board started at 11:00 am. After the welcome speech, the agenda and report from the General Assembly of BMU, which was held in Paklenica (Croatia), on May 10, 2024, was unanimously adopted. The possibility of changing the BMU statute was also considered. The members of the Executive Board commented on all the points of the statute with the aim of preparing a new statute that will be submitted to the delegates for the next session of the GA BMU, which will be held in Slovenia in 2025. It was agreed that a new BMU website will be created and a viber group will be created for easier communication among members of the BMU Executive Board. When it comes to Balkan competitions, the Mountaineering Association of Serbia will try to hold a competition in mountaineering orientation during November with the aim of maintaining continuity. The competition was supposed to be organized in Delčevo (Northern Macedonia) in mid-October, but it was postponed due to fires that are frequent in that area. Next year (2025), this competition will be organized by the Mountaineering Association of North Macedonia. The rules of the new competition at the Balkan level in mountain running were also discussed. All BMU delegations will be able to comment on the rulebook by the end of the year, when the final document on this discipline will be drawn up, which will be held for the first time in the organization of the Mountaineering Association of Serbia in 2026 on Mount Tara. It was also discussed that a third competitive discipline at the BMU level would be introduced in the foreseeable future, namely the Balkan Championship in dry tooling. The president of the BMU suggested that at least once a year, seminars with different topics in the field of mountaineering should be organized. There can also be round tables and in cooperation with several mountaineering associations and symposia on a specific topic. An initiative was launched to hold a joint meeting of committees for mountain guides at the BMU level with the aim of cooperation and organizing joint trainings. Considering the fact that the general secretary was not elected at the election assembly in Meteora, Greece in 2023, the Executive Board will propose to fill this position at the next GA BMU.
